The cambelt (also known as the timing belt) is the most important maintenance item in your engine. Its job is to keep the camshaft and crank timed as they should be, so that the engine valves open and close at the correct times. However, the cambelt will stretch over time and as a result, the engine timing may get delayed. To avoid any nasty surprises, you should have your cambelt checked annually because if the cambelt snaps it can cause serious damage to your engine.
